NAVAIR considers BOAs for cyber warfare in aviation systems

The Naval Air Systems Command plans to issue basic ordering agreements with companies for cyber warfare support of its naval aircraft, weapons and other aviation systems.

NAVAIR’s Cyber Warfare Detachment (CWD) is seeking both traditional defense contractors and non-traditional businesses to help with a resilient and full-spectrum of cyber warfare capabilities in naval systems.

NAVAIR wants help with its strategies in developing its cyber workforce, improve infrastructure, conduct research and development, and set up the Navy CYBERSAFE program. Companies would also conduct cyber risk assessments, support naval aviation programs with cyber solutions, and establish standards to incorporate it into future acquisitions.

NAVAIR plans to create six pools of BOAs:

• No. 1: System definition and architecture development
• No. 2: Risk assessments and assessment methods
• No. 3: Develop and conduct cyber workforce training
• No. 4: Cyber penetration testing and penetration tool development
• No. 5: Protection solutions and system integration services
• No. 6: Full spectrum operational cyber warfare support

CWD develops and assesses cyber warfare capabilities for mission assurance of naval aircraft, weapon systems and support systems related to data processing, data links, networks, communications, navigation, and mission planning.

NAVAIR issued a solicitation Dec. 14. Responses are due by July 13.
