FDA considers a BPA to streamline regular IT purchases

The Food and Drug Administration is considering a five-year, enterprise-wide IT infrastructure blanket purchase agreement.

The FDA would use the BPA to order IT hardware and software products, as well as the related support services, such as maintenance, configuration services, warranties, and installation.

According to its request for information, the FDA is dealing with a drastic increase in IT contracts and, as a result, the work that goes along with the acquisition process. The BPA would provide the agency with a streamlined and quick procurement process to get IT hardware and software that are needed on a reoccurring basis.

The FDA released its RFI Nov. 10. Responses are due Dec. 1.
