GSA, DOE seek newest ‘green’ building technologies

The General Services Administration and the Energy Department today announced their attempt to gather information on innovative “green” building technologies to aid the Green Proving Ground and High-Impact Technology Catalyst programs.

The two agencies want to hear from companies, organizations, and education institutions about new technologies. The goal is finding potential ways to improve economic and environmental performance in federal and commercial buildings.

GSA and DOE are seeking technologies in:

• Energy management
• Window attachments
• Fans and blowers
• Renewable energy
• Water conservation and reuse

Under the RFI, GSA and DOE are collaborating to conserve energy and reduce carbon pollution, following a memorandum of understanding signed early in 2015.

“Working together will lead to smart decisions that lead to better value for the American taxpayer, more productive work environments for our federal partners, and a more sustainable future for our country,” said Steve Sakach, assistant commissioner for GSA’s Public Buildings Services’ Facilities Management and Services Programs.

Responses to the RFI are due by Dec. 11.
