CBP plans $50M set-aside work for background checks

The Customs and Border Protection is soliciting a five-year, $50 million set-aside contract for administrative staffing to support the agency’s efforts to complete background checks and security investigations.

CBP plans a single award for an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract for a service-disabled veteran-owned small business. Work would begin in June and possibly run through 2019.

The contractor would work with CBP’s Personnel Security Division to process background check information on CBP applicants, employees, and contractors by providing administrative support, like handling personnel security intake, data entry, file-room management, and other efforts to meet timely scheduling and adjudication of background investigations and security clearances.

The contractor would provide personnel for supporting PSD’s employees to help review and prepare cases and assist duties such as scanning, inputting information into the internal database, as well as filing and maintaining case documents.

With the IDIQ, CBP is preparing itself for sudden surges in demands for quickly hiring in various geographic areas to meet a specific need, handle a newly uncovered weaknesses, or meet congressional mandates.

The solicitation was released March 14. The deadline for responses is April 14.
