General Dynamics names new board member

General Dynamics has named Laura Schumacher to its board of directors, effective February 2, 2014.

Schumacher is currently executive vice president of business development, External Affairs and General Counsel for AbbVie, a biopharmaceutical company founded in 2013 after separating from Abbot.

As executive vice president, Schumacher is responsible for AbbVie’s legal, licensing and acquisitions, government affairs, health economics outcomes research, investor relations, public affairs and corporate brand marketing functions, and the AbbVie Foundation, General Dynamics said in a  release.

She also serves on AbbVie’s board of directors.
