RTI wins $77M Education contract for data collection program

RTI International has won a $77.4 million contract to support the Education Department’s Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System, or IPEDS, program.

The IPEDS program is Education’s core postsecondary education data collection program, comprised of various kinds of data that describes trends in postsecondary education at institution, state and national levels.

Data such as admissions information, race/ethnicity/gender of enrolled students, institutional revenue and financial aid records are managed by the IPEDS program.

Under the contract, RTI International will aid the IPEDS program with its data collection by conducting a web-based survey.

The company will start work immediately, and will collect data during the curren 2013-2014 cycle. After that, RTI will assist the IPEDS program for three additional cycles, with work expected to be completed in 2017.

This contract was originally awarded on Sept. 29, 2013, but due to the government shutdown, it was not announced until today.
