Deltek makes program management acquisition

Deltek makes a deal for Texas-based Acumen that adds new products and solutions to its program management portfolio.

Deltek has acquired Acumen, a Texas company that provides program management solutions and services.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Deltek picks up project planning, analytics and risk management solutions with the acquisition.

Acumen counts among its customers companies in the energy, aerospace and defense and construction and engineering markets. The acquisition builds on Deltek’s own project and program management offerings.

Acumen will continue to be sold as standalone products, and will be integrated in to Deltek’s government contracting and professional services solutions organization.

“In Deltek, we have found a fantastic partner that shares our goal of propelling project-based businesses to new heights of financial performance,” said Dan Patterson, president and CEO of Acumen. He will join Deltek as part of the acquisition.

“We share a common commitment to improve how our customers manage their projects, programs and overall business,” said Deltek CEO Mike Corkery.

Some of Acumen’s customers include BAE Systems, Battelle, and Cobham. The company also has several government customers, such as the Homeland Security and Energy departments and the Defense Contract Management Agency.

This is the first acquisition that Deltek has completed since it was acquired in October 2012 by Thoma Bravo, a private equity group, and went private.
