State-level CIOs more involved in health information than before
According to a recent study, state CIOs are more involved than ever before with health information.
State chief information officers have a bigger role than ever before as states must now implement an enterprise-wide architecture for the exchange of health information, according to InformationWeek.
The results from a recent study by the National Association of State Chief Information Officers and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society show that state CIOs now play a big role in health IT strategies, and also have a hand in consolidation and optimization, InformationWeek reported.
The study focused on how CIOs view the current IT landscape of state health initiatives, and the results show that CIOs have a number of roles in areas like Medicaid Management Information Systems, Medicaid eligibility systems, data governance, identity management, state health insurance marketplaces, and others.
