GD nabs $31M contract for fighter jet computer work
General Dynamics has won a contract with the Navy to provide support for the advanced mission computers on Hornet and Harrier aircraft.
General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems has won a five-year, $31.5 million contract to support the advanced mission computers in the Navy’s F/A-18 Hornet and AV-8B Harrier aircrafts.
This is the second contract of its kind to be awarded to General Dynamics; the first was awarded in mid-March.
Under the contract, General Dynamics will repair the advanced mission computers in a number of aircraft models.
As for the computers themselves, they are integrated information processing systems built with commercial off-the-shelf products, the company said in a release.
They perform general purpose tasks, including input/output, video, voice and graphics processing.
Work will take place in Bloomington, Minn.
The company is teaming with Honeywell Aerospace for this contract.
