Sotera Defense Solutions buys IC cybersecurity firm

Sotera Defense Solutions, a provider of technology-based systems and services for national security agencies, has acquired Software Process Technologies Inc.

SPT now will be known as Software Process Technologies, a Sotera Defense Solutions Company, and will be led by Christine Dockstader, SPT founder, president and CEO.

Sotera Defense Solutions, a provider of technology-based systems and services for national security agencies, has acquired Software Process Technologies Inc. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed in the Sept. 22 announcement.

SPT furnishes a range of mission-focused, specialized software engineering capabilities to support customers’ cyber intelligence missions.

The Columbia, Md., company has grown rapidly since its inception in 1997 and employs approximately 140 professionals in the Ft. Meade, Md., area. It expects to generate approximately $35 million in 2011 revenue, driven by its solutions focus, leading edge technical expertise and direct exposure to the cyber security mission requirements of the intelligence community, the Sotera announcement said.
