Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Sotera is picking up about $35 million in new revenue and broadens its customer base in the Fort Meade, Md., area.

Software Process Technologies provides a range of software engineering capabilities to intelligence agency customers.

“SPT, with a strong software engineering pedigree and expertise in content exploitation and defense analytics, combined with its strong culture of innovation, is a natural fit for Sotera,” said John Hillen, Sotera’s president and CEO.

The transaction is the first deal Sotera has closed since it’s own acquisition by Ares Management, a private equity group. Sotera formerly was known as Global Defense Technologies and Systems.
