CGI tasked with cybersecurity enhancement at EPA

CGI Federal Inc. will boost cybersecurity for the Environmental Protection Agency under a $34 million task order from the ITS-EPA II Program Blanket Purchase Agreement.

CGI Federal Inc. will boost cybersecurity for the Environmental Protection Agency under a $34 million task order.

Under the task order, the U.S. subsidiary of CGI Group Inc. will partner with the EPA to develop and implement a new cybersecurity approach focused on strengthening the internal security posture, streamlining processes, re-engineering operations, and enhancing service tracking.

Work will include migrating and supporting a Network Security Operations Center in the EPA's National Computer Center, one of the largest computer centers in the United States, according to a company announcement made May 18.

With this award, CGI will add more than 30 new jobs in Research Triangle Park, N.C. The CGI team includes partner companies FedConcepts and Raytheon Co.

George Schindler, president of CGI Federal, said the acquisition of Stanley Inc. has meant that CGI can expand its portfolio of services to the EPA. "This was one of the first opportunities we worked on from strategy through award as one combined team and I am pleased by the teamwork and successful outcome," he said.

The Network Security and Operations time and materials task order falls under the multi-vendor, seven-year, $955 million, ITS-EPA II Program Blanket Purchase Agreement.

In November 2010, the EPA awarded CGI Federal a $22 million, firm-fixed-price task order to provide an agencywide call center under the same ITS-EPA II BPA.

CGI Group Inc., of Montreal, Que., ranks No. 82 on Washington Technology’s 2010 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
