Lockheed Martin Corp., Northrop Grumman Corp., Computer Sciences Corp., and Perot Systems Government Services are among the 30 federal IT contractors and other services providers named to the new 10-year, $5 billion contract from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The CDC Information Management Services (CIMS) indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract will expand IT services across the CDC and its affiliated groups, according to a statement today from the Atlanta-based health care agency. CIMS encompasses the full range of IT solutions to serve the CDC’s 16,000-person workforce, it said.

The agency published an announcement on July 31, 2009, inviting vendors to participate in the pre-solicitation advisory process, using a relatively new source selection procedure, the Advisory Multi-Step Request.

The advisory procedure, permitted under the Federal Acquisition Regulation, allows agencies to evaluate the qualifications of prospective vendors and advise them whether they have a realistic chance of winning a contract. It proceeds separately from the request for proposals process.
