QinetiQ North America has named Mark Hewitt senior vice president of strategy of the company’s Technology Solutions Group.
QinetiQ North America has named Mark Hewitt senior vice president of strategy of the company’s Technology Solutions Group.
He will lead the group’s business strategy, identifying and positioning it for new opportunities in government and commercial markets, according to a Feb. 15 company announcement.
Hewitt served as director of defense and special programs at the Energy Department’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, managing the laboratory’s science and technology portfolio for national defense and intelligence missions.
He previously was deputy assistant secretary of defense for continuity and crisis management and special assistant to the assistant secretary of defense for special operations and low-intensity conflict.
After his service at the Defense Department, he was a visiting scholar at George Washington University’s Center for International Science and Technology Policy. Hewitt also has been a consultant to the Rand Corp., the Institute for Defense Analyses, and several government agencies.
Hewitt holds a B.S. in political science from the University of Utah, an M.S. in defense and strategic studies from Missouri State University, and a Ph.D. in public policy from George Washington University.
QinetiQ North America, of McLean, Va., ranks No. 34 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
