QinetiQ names Yamada SVP for intell and security
QinetiQ North America has hired Austin Yamada as senior vice president for business acquisition in the intelligence, security and space sector within the Mission Solutions Group.
QinetiQ North America has hired Austin Yamada as senior vice president for business acquisition in the intelligence, security and space sector within the Mission Solutions Group.
Yamada joins QinetiQ North America from ManTech International Corp., where he was vice president for national security strategy.
From 2000 to 2002, he served as deputy assistant secretary of defense for special operations and combating terrorism.
An expert in counterterrorism, special operations, counterintelligence, anti-terrorism and force protection, Yamada moved into the private sector after a lengthy career in the intelligence community during which he advanced to the Senior Executive Service.
Yamada earned a bachelor's degree from Montana State University and a master’s degree in civil engineering from Virginia Tech.
He was a Senior Executive Fellow at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government in 1991.
QinetiQ North America, of McLean, Va., ranks No. 34 on Washington Technology’s 2009 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
