Merged AeA and ITAA organization has new name

The merged AeA and Information Technology Association of America organization unveiled its new name today, TechAmerica.

The boards of directors of AeA and ITAA approved the merger in December 2008, and said at the time that the combined group would be known as the Technology Association of America.

In an announcement Monday, the organization said the impetus for the name change was “to create a brand that would uniquely represent the power and strength of our members – a brand that puts us in the best position to deliver the many benefits our members have come to expect and more.”

Officials said the group's descriptor line, "The Association of Companies Driving Innovation Worldwide," “is grounded in the belief that our members make America synonymous with technology – and drive that technology around the world.”

The tagline “Where the future begins” was chosen to position TechAmerica as an essential building block of a new innovation nation, they added.

The combined organization represents approximately 2,000 companies.
