L-3 to create Army training architecture

L-3 Communications Corp. will provide support to the Army Training and Doctrine Command under a five-year, $92 million contract.

L-3 will furnish architecture and analysis services that will lay the technology groundwork for joint operations concepts for the Army and the Joint Staff, company officials said.

L-3's Global Security and Engineering Solutions unit in Chantilly, Va., will provide assistance to the Army's Architecture Integration and Management Directorate, Army Capabilities Integration Center, and other training centers nationwide, they said.

The company's partners on the project are Lockheed Martin Corp., of Bethesda, Md.; SI International Inc., of Reston, Va.; and CAS Inc., of Huntsville, Ala.

The contract was awarded through the General Services Administration's Applications and Support for Widely Diverse End-User Requirements program.

L-3 ranks No. 8 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
