CA Inc. has acquired IDFocus LLC., an identity management technology provider, in a move to boost its information security capabilities. Terms were not disclosed.
CA plans to integrate its Identity Manager software with IDFocus' Advance Components Extensions (ACE) software, CA officials said. The acquisition enhances CA's Identity and Access Management suite to meet customers' life cycle needs and address regulatory compliance requirements, they said.
Through the acquisition, CA will obtain software that addresses compliance requirements by preventing segregation of duties violations. The companies' software suites will work together to run checks on segregation of duties policies while provisioning users.
Segregation of duties is an internal auditing method designed to ensure that errors or irregularities are prevented or detected by limiting the control that an individual can have over the various phases of a financial transaction.
If a policy violation is uncovered, CA's software will prevent the unauthorized provisioning from occurring. The advantage is that customers will be able to link workflows and approvals to specific user attributes.
CA, of Islandia, N.Y., specializes in IT management software for the public and private sectors.
