Lockheed team wins $3B Hanford Site deal

A team led by Lockheed Martin Corp. will provide a broad range of services at the Energy Department's Hanford Site under a 10-year contract with a ceiling value of $3 billion.

Under the terms of the contract, Lockheed and the Mission Support Alliance LLC will support the Energy Department and other contractors at the 586-square-mile facility along the Columbia River in southeastern Washington state.

Services will include safety, security and environmental support; site infrastructure and utilities support; site business management, information resources, and content and portfolio management.

The MSA includes Jacobs Engineering Group Inc., a global professional, technical and construction services company, and Wackenhut Services Inc., a professional security services contractor. The MSA is also supported by several small-business teammates.

For nearly 50 years, the Hanford site produced plutonium for national defense programs. The complex consists of nine nuclear reactors and associated processing facilities. Since the late 1980s, Hanford has been engaged in the world's largest environmental cleanup and restoration project, with a number of overlapping technical, political, regulatory, financial and cultural issues.

Lockheed Martin's Advanced Technology Support Services in Richland, Wash., has provided information resource management services at Hanford since 1996.
