Cubic extends Marine Corps training pact

Cubic Applications Inc. will continue instructing U.S. advisers who train Iraqi and Afghan security forces under a new contract potentially worth $31.7 million.

Under the new Security Cooperation and Education Training Center contract, Cubic will provide pre-deployment training to members of security cooperation teams scheduled to go abroad, company officials said in an announcement. The advisory teams are trained to work independent of conventional Marine Corps forces.

Training will be provided on U.S. and foreign weapons, emergency medical procedures and combat casualty care. Other areas of training include convoy operations and vehicle maintenance, communications and mentoring skills.

The company will perform the instruction at Marine bases and facilities located at Twenty-Nine Palms, Calif.; Camp Pendleton, Calif.; and Camp Lejeune, N.C. Options can extend the contract through December 2012.
