Wyle to boost Air Force technical expertise

Wyle Information Systems LLC will operate, maintain and support the Space Innovation and Development Center (SIDC) at Schriever Air Force Base, Colo., under a contract worth $18.5 million.

Under terms of the award, Wyle will assist the SIDC in developing the technical expertise for examining ways to integrate national and Defense Department space systems to support research and development and combat capabilities in the Air Force. This includes integrating existing and advanced technology weapons, platforms and special test facilities.

Wyle will also assist SIDC-related activities by integrating emerging space-based technologies and radar, as well as intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, lasers, high-power microwaves and communications.

Wyle Information Systems, of McLean, Va., was founded by Rodney Hunt in 1992 as RS Information Systems Inc. RSIS was acquired by Wyle, of El Segundo, Calif., in January 2008.

Wyle, which specializes in aerospace engineering, testing and research, is a portfolio company of Littlejohn and Co., a private equity firm in Greenwich, Conn.
