General Dynamics keys in on cryptographic generator

General Dynamics will design and develop a new combat key generator for the U.S. Air Force's Cryptologic Systems Group under a new $8.4 million contract.
The company will test information assurance technologies needed for the next-generation Combat Key Generator. The key is for tactical military radio users who manage and control the exchange of classified keying information.

The Combat Key Generator will be interoperable with existing and next generation information assurance products and equipment used in military vehicles, aircraft, ships and fixed site applications. It will replace existing key generators, including the KOK-13A.

The Combat Key Generator also will meet the National Security Agency Cryptographic Modernization Initiative and NSA/CSS Policy No. 3-9 requirements.

General Dynamics Corp., of Falls Church, Va., ranks No. 6 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
