Taylor to support Navy training systems

J.F. Taylor Inc. will provide engineering, training and program management support for Navy training and weapons systems under a contract worth $49.9 million.

The indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract also calls for the small-business contractor to provide analysis, design, manufacturing, installation, testing, modifications, training, documentation and program management.

The contract applies to simulated cockpits and trainers for weapons systems, tactical operational flights and aircrew procedures. It also covers test hardware and software for the AH-1Z Super Cobra, UH-1Y Huey and Chinook helicopters; several fixed-wing aircraft; and related trainers that share common requirements.

The company expects to complete the work by June 2011.

The Naval Surface Warfare Center's Indian Head Division in Indian Head, Md., manages the contract.

Taylor, of Lexington Park, Md., provides research, development, test and evaluation services to the Defense Department. The private company also designs and manufactures high-fidelity flight simulators, training devices and related products.
