Boeing to assist AF with air defense technologies

The Boeing Co. won a $14 million contract from the Air Force to develop technologies designed to counter attacks against aircraft.

Chicago-based Boeing will provide aircraft integration system engineering to develop technology required to enable airborne stand-off electronic attack, the Defense Department said this week.

An initial $4 million was allocated for the project. The contract was awarded by Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, to Boeing's Wichita, Kan., division.

Boeing ranks No. 2 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
