Americom Government Services will continue working on a custom communications network for the Army under a 10-year contract renewal with an initial value of $136.2 million.
The award also includes five additional one-year options worth $150.2 million, for a total potential contract value of $286.4 million.
The follow-on contract calls for the contractor to provide bandwidth and systems engineering, operations and maintenance support for the Army's Trojan satellite communications. The network provides an operational intelligence capability and a means of enhancing the military's combat readiness.
AGS' solution includes a custom network complete with terminals, ground infrastructure, and the design and engineering expertise necessary to operate Trojan's network control centers.
The existing network, which will serve as the foundation for the continuing work, is available to military personnel worldwide, company officials said.
AGS, a McLean, Va., subsidiary of SES Americom, offers satellite bandwidth and custom satellite communications network solutions to the intelligence community and the Defense, State and Homeland Security departments.
