Harris gets Marine multiband radio deal
Harris Corp. will provide multiband radios to the Marine Corps under a new contract that could be worth as much as $350 million.
Harris Corp. will provide multiband radios to the Marine Corps under an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract that could be worth as much as $350 million over five years, the Defense Department announced this week.
The work involves the so-called manpack configuration of the multiband radio systems used by the Marines, according to information posted on the Federal Business Opportunities Web site.
As called for in the solicitation, Harris will produce and deliver a manpack configuration for which it will provide logistics, technical and field service support, and training.
Harris' RF Communications Division will perform the work at its facilities in Rochester, N.Y., DOD said. The project will begin in September and is expected to be completed by May 2013.
The Marine Corps Systems Command in Quantico, Va., will oversee the program.
Harris, of Melbourne, Fla., ranks No. 13 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
