Science Applications International Corp. has completed its acquisition of Icon Systems Inc., a company that builds laser-based systems and products for military training and testing. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition is intended to boost SAIC's live-training capabilities and enable the company to provide a more comprehensive array of offerings in those areas, company officials said.

Icon, which has 100 employees, is now part of SAIC's Analysis, Simulations, Systems, Engineering and Training business unit. Himanshu Parik, Icon's founder and chief executive officer, will run the operation for SAIC.

Icon has worked on the Army's Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System and Tactical Engagement Simulation System training programs. They provide training for individual combat and weapons platforms.

SAIC, of San Diego, ranks No. 5 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
