Justice issues RFP for wireless devices

The Justice Department has issued a request for proposals to procure wireless devices and accessories for the U.S. Marshals Service.

The department is seeking contractors to provide wireless services, devices and equipment, and related accessories for employees of the service.

The Marshals Service has about 1,800 BlackBerry devices, 3,700 cell phones and 900 PC Card users. This inventory is expected to increase.

The department expects to award five-year blanket purchase agreements to contractors based on coverage, price and past performance.

The BPAs are expected to improve purchasing, which in the past has been done in a decentralized manner, the department said.

Justice issued the solicitation April 23. Proposals are due May 13.
