Harris to sell tactical radios to Philippines

Harris Corp. will deliver two types of tactical radios to the Philippines Defence Ministry under a $79.6 million contract.

Under the terms of the contract, Harris will provide the Philippines military with Falcon II RF-5800H high-frequency manpack and Falcon II RF-5800V very-high-frequency handheld radios.

In addition to the radios, the company will furnish support equipment, spare and repair parts, and training and logistics assistance.

The high-frequency and very-high-frequency radios will give the country's armed forces secure and reliable communications for operations in all kinds of terrain, company officials said.

The RF-5800H is an advanced HF manpack radio designed to provide reliable tactical communications through secure voice and data performance, networking and extended battery life. The RF-5800V is a lightweight multiband handheld intended for squad-level use.

The Melbourne, Fla., company ranks No. 21 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
