L-3 to deploy tactical video for Marines

L-3 Services Inc. will provide tactical video systems to Marine Corps bases worldwide under a contract that will be worth up to $326 million over three years, the Defense Department announced this week.

Under the terms of the contract, L-3 Services will design, fabricate, install and test the tactical video capture system for the Marines' use. The Marine Corps Systems Command located in Quantico, Va., is the contracting authority for the project.

Staff and personnel of the Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Command will use the video system to meet real-time visualization and situational awareness needs, DOD said.

L-3 Services' Global Security and Engineering Solutions division will do the work, which entails system design, development and integration. The company also is responsible for logistics, engineering and training for the video system.

L-3 Services, which is based in Chantilly, is a unit of L-3 Communications Inc., located in New York. The parent company ranks No. 9 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
