Find opportunities — and win them.

DRS Technologies has received a $20 million task order for satellite-based Internet broadband service and VoIP from the Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center.

DRS Technologies Inc. has received a $20 million task order for satellite-based Internet broadband service and VoIP from the Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center in Charleston, S.C.

The network will assist military personnel in the European, Central, Pacific and African Commands, and other locations tasked by SPAWAR Europe.

DRS also will build the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Network, which will provide phone service, e-mail, Internet access and video chat capabilities for troops overseas to stay in touch with family and friends at home and to pursue online educational opportunities.

DRS Technical Services' unit in Herndon, Va., will do all network engineering, systems integration, installation and testing to ensure continuous connectivity.

The task order stems from the $250 million, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity SPAWAR contract that DRS Technologies of Parsippany, N.J., won in August.
