EDO gets Navy unmanned systems work

EDO Corp. won a five-year, $8 million contract from the Naval Surface Warfare Center to provide professional services to support emerging technologies for unmanned systems.

Under the terms of the contract, EDO will provide acquisition program planning, test and evaluation, mission analysis and logistics planning support.

These services will help refine prototype unmanned-system technologies for use in a variety of naval missions, such as maritime surveillance and mine countermeasures.

EDO has past experience providing engineering and systems development for anti-submarine warfare, mine-sweeping and undersea sensor technology, the company said in a news release.

The company will support the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Panama City, Fla. The facility serves as the Navy's lead laboratory for mine warfare and other missions that occur primarily in coastal regions.

EDO of New York ranks No. 56 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
