Suss Consulting names Lamb COO
Suss Consulting Inc. has hired Mary Lamb, a former senior vice president of EDS Corp., as its first chief operating officer.
Mary Lamb, a former senior vice president of EDS Corp., has been hired as the first chief operating officer at Suss Consulting Inc. She joins the company Friday, July 20.
"This is a new position for us," Warren Suss, president of Suss Consulting, told Washington Technology. "Mary was hired to help the company grow up."
Suss said, "We have not been aggressive about getting the word out about the company and in terms of expanding the client base into new niche areas. Most of the work has come to us."
Lamb will focus on expanding the company's presence in the government sector. "Most of the folks in the federal [information technology] community are not even aware that we offer consulting services to the government," he said.
Suss said that after nearly 25 years in business, Suss Consulting of Jenkintown, Pa., needs someone to lead a reorganization that will take advantage of the company's untapped potential as well as provide a full-time presence in Washington.
Lamb also will provide a new level of corporate leadership, Suss said, and share the growing responsibilities with him and the executive team. "She understands what it takes to run and manage a mature organization," he added.
Lamb's career with EDS's U.S. government unit of Herndon, Va., included managing the company's ties with the Education, Veterans Affairs, Energy and State departments as well as the General Services Administration, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Environmental Protection Agency.
Suss Consulting, which has more than 70 employees, helps clients identify and win information technology-related work with defense and civilian agencies.
