CACI to assist with Army battlefield communications

CACI International Inc. has won a four-year, $47 million contract from the Army to furnish program management and other key support services for the Force XXI Battle Command Brigade and Below system.

Under the terms of the contract, CACI of Arlington, Va., will provide program management, systems engineering, logistics and training support for the FBCB2 system.

CACI said the award increases its business with the Army and expands its work supporting Army command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. The Army awarded the contract through its Strategic Services Sourcing contracting vehicle.

FBCB2 is the Army's new digital command and control system. The system connects components through a communications infrastructure called the "tactical Internet" that allows users to exchange situational awareness data and carry out command and control functions.

The current system is installed in 114 weapons platforms, ranging from tanks to helicopters, for both the Army and Marine Corps.

CACI ranks No. 22 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
