EDO gets Minuteman test equipment award

EDO Corp. will develop new testing equipment for the Minuteman intercontinental ballistic missile system under a $4 million subcontract award from Northrop Grumman Corp.

EDO will design and manufacture 20 portable circuitry test sets that will prevent damage to the Minuteman Weapon System by measuring and detecting electrical current and voltage levels in the system's cables.

After the design phase, EDO is scheduled to deliver 20 test sets in 2009. Follow-on options include the production of an additional 86 test sets for about $4.5 million.

Northrop Grumman is the prime contractor for the Air Force's prime integration contract for the Minuteman III Weapons System. The Minuteman ICBM is stored in dispersed hardened silos and plays a key role in the United States' strategic deterrent strategy.

EDO Corp. of New York ranks No. 56 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
