Apogen CEO steps down

Paul Leslie announced today that he is resigning as president and chief executive officer of Apogen Technologies.

"As many of you already know, with Apogen Technologies beginning its integration to become part of a larger QinetiQ North America, I have decided to leave my position there," Leslie told friends and colleagues by e-mail.

Leslie gave no date for his departure. He said in the e-mail that he plans to take off a few months to consider his options and travel with his family. Attempts to reach Leslie by phone were unsuccessful.

Leslie, Apogen's president, replaced Todd Stottlemyer as CEO in November 2005, when Stottlemyer left to become president and CEO of the National Federation of Independent Business, a lobbying group.

Apogen's parent company, QinetiQ North America, is a wholly owned subsidiary of QinetiQ, a U.K.-based information technology and defense contractor.

Leslie began his career at EDS Corp. in 1977, designing electronic filing and financial systems for government and commercial customers. Leslie managed the Eastern Region Training Development Organization for EDS's systems and software engineers.

When he joined BDM in 1990, Leslie was responsible for building several high-profile and successful IT systems, including the Edgar electronic filing system for the Securities and Exchange Commission and the national blood product manufacturing information system for the American Red Cross.
