General Dynamics unit lands new Navy work

The Navy's Sea Systems Command has chosen Falls Church, Va.-based General Dynamics Information Technology to support its intelligence and temporary alteration programs. The task orders, awarded under the SeaPort-e contract, could be worth $32.6 million over five years.

General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics Corp., will carry out the work onsite at the NAVSEA Combat Direction Systems Activity in Dam Neck, Va., and at military command sites. The work entails operational engineering support services and lifecycle deployment work for the activity's equipment and systems.

"As the largest of the Navy's system commands, NAVSEA and its directorates are critical to the success of the nation's ships and combat systems," said Ken Slaght, vice president and general manager of Maritime Systems Sector for General Dynamics Information Technology.

General Dynamics ranks No. 4 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
