ConceptSolutions LLC has won a contract from the FAA to lead the team designing and implementing the Next Generation Air Transportation System.
ConceptSolutions LLC has won a five-year, $32 million contract from the Federal Aviation Administration to lead the team designing and implementing the agency's Next Generation Air Transportation System.
Under the contract, ConceptSolutions of Reston, Va., and its team will plan, develop and deploy system integration strategies for modernizing air traffic management systems.
The FAA Joint Planning and Development Office awarded the contract.
The agency's long-term goal is to use new and emerging technologies to revamp the air transportation system, with a target date of 2025. The system that FAA envisions will be able to accommodate new types of aircraft, new industry business models and steadily increasing demands on capacity.
On the whole, FAA wants a system that is significantly more flexible, scalable and automated than what exists today, able to meet up to three times the current demand.
