Affiliated Computer Services acquired some assets of Albion Inc., a company specializing in integrated eligibility software solutions.

In an effort to enhance its health and human services sector capabilities, Affiliated Computer Services Inc. acquired some assets of Albion Inc., a company specializing in integrated eligibility software solutions.

Affiliated will pay $25.5 million for the assets using a combination of cash and borrowings.

The acquisition enables Affiliated Computer Services of Dallas to address health and human services issues facing state and local government clients, including legacy systems, a need for cost effectiveness and a client-centered approach to service delivery.

The acquired @Vantage software addresses those issues while meeting federal financial support requirements for a commercial, off-the-shelf solution.

The combination of ACS' service offerings with the @Vantage solution enables ACS to offer an integrated eligibility offering across multiple health and human services programs, such as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, food stamps and Medicaid.

Founded in 1994, Albion is headquartered in Atlanta, with additional operations in Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Mexico, Tennessee and Wyoming. About 170 employees will transition to ACS as part of the acquisition.

ACS of Dallas has about 58,000 employees and had annual sales of $5.3 billion in 2006. The company ranks No. 48 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors. The 2007 Top 100 list is due out May 14.
