Under a $55.1 million contract, L-3's Link and Simulation Division will build the Army five additional aviation combined arms tactical trainers.
L-3 Link will deliver four of the training suites to Army Reserve component sites, and the fifth trainer to a joint use Army Reserve installation. The first training suite is scheduled for delivery in December 2007.
The aviation training suite allows the Army to conduct simulations for attack, reconnaissance, utility and cargo helicopters.
Each training suite consists of two mobile 53-foot trailers that house six reconfigurable simulators, a battle master control room and an after-action review theater. Users can reconfigure the simulators to represent any combination of AH-64D, AH-64A, OH-58D, UH-60A/L and CH-47D platforms.
Under a $15.2 million contract, L-3 Link will continue to deliver support to the Air Force's E-3 training and simulation services program.
L-3 Link supplies student instruction, performs logistics and maintenance services and ensures that training materials and equipment are concurrent with changes to the E-3 Sentry Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft.
The training, which covers pilot, navigator and flight engineer stations, is conducted at an L-3 Link facility in Oklahoma City, Okla., next to Tinker Air Force Base.
The program's two high-fidelity flight trainers enable aircrews to practice takeoffs, landings, aerial refuelings and emergency procedures.
