EDS Corp. will continue administering fiscal agent services for the state of Kansas through a $91.7 million contract extension.
The new contract is the first three-year option of a contract initially awarded in 2002. The new contract extends EDS' work until June 30, 2011.
Under the original contract, EDS of Plano, Texas, converted Kansas' legacy-based Medicaid management information system to EDS' interChange MMIS. The EDS system went live in October 2003.
The system features a fraud and abuse solution and a Web-based interface that enables medical claims to be filed online and processed more efficiently, according to the company.
About 300,000 eligible residents of Kansas receive services each month from the 19,000 health care providers that participate in the state's Medicaid program.
EDS provides Medicaid-related services in 20 states.
EDS ranks No. 8 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
