Allen Corp. snaps up WetStone Technology

Allen Corp. of America Inc. has completed the acquisition of WetStone Technologies Inc. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Allen Corp. of America Inc. has completed the acquisition of WetStone Technologies Inc., a company specializing in information security products and services. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"The acquisition of WetStone is a key component in Allen's strategy to increase its product and services assets focused on satisfying the rapidly growing IT security requirements of our public and private sector clients," said Carl von Sternberg, Allen's CEO.

WetStone's market niches include malware and steganography investigation, live digital forensics, intrusion detection and digital evidence timestamping. Steganography is act of hiding information by embedding messages within other, seemingly harmless ones.

WetStone also conducts advanced research and development for a number of government, law enforcement and private organizations.

"Allen Corporation's presence in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, and particularly its established training facility in Fairfax, ? allows us to provide local services to a large percentage of WetStone's critical government customer base," said Chet Hosmer, CEO and chief scientist of WetStone.

Hosmer will now be senior vice president and chief scientist for Allen.

Allen Corp. is based in Fairfax, Va., and Wetstone is based in Cortland, N.Y.
