Verizon Business will furnish maintenance, repair and support for regular voice and voice over IP systems that support 40,000 Forest Service employees at 1,100 offices throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.

The task order, which was awarded under the General Services Administration's Connections contract, is for one year with four one-year options.

The GSA Connections contract lets federal agencies buy telecommunications equipment, support services and professional services to build their own end-to-end solutions.

Verizon Business, a part of Verizon Communications Inc. of New York, is one of 17 prime contractors awarded the Connections contract in 2003. The parent company ranks No. 14 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list the largest federal IT contractors.
