Xirrus Inc., a provider of Wi-Fi products that can extend wired network capabilities to wireless, now has advanced station load-balancing capabilities available on all Xirrus Wi-Fi Arrays.The arrays track real-world link conditions for each station on every channel and radio, and automatically move stations to improve throughput for users on the wireless network.This level of performance-enhancing load balancing and the user capacity supported by the Wi-Fi Array is done without proprietary end-user software and works with any Wi-Fi client.Dartware LLC released version 4.5 of its InterMapper network monitoring and alerting software. The updated version improves the software's ability to display network health, monitor elements, alert administrators and work with other monitoring systems.InterMapper helps network managers proactively maintain uptime, plan expansion, trouble-shoot problems, and document elements and connections.In addition to generating maps and charts, InterMapper 4.5 users also can track network performance status with List/Icon/Notifier View in which maps are displayed in multiple views.Optex Inc., maker of high-end infrared sensor technology, has partnered with Remote Monitoring Technologies Inc., makers of Site-Guard Portable Security Systems, to provide a wireless outdoor security solution that requires no phone lines for data transmission.Optex/Site-Guard systems communicate via the Aeris.net MicroBurst network, which includes 95 percent of North America's cellular coverage area. The system's server network receives communications from Optex/Site-Guard systems and sends text messages or e-mail to assigned contacts.With wireless communication and battery power, the Optex/Site-Guard system eliminates the need for telephone lines and power, making it suitable for construction sites, remote properties and storage facilities.
