BearingPoint and FileNet chase Real ID together

BearingPoint Inc. and FileNet Corp. have forged a teaming agreement for process automation and records management solutions aimed at improving state motor vehicle departments.

FileNet of Costa Mesa, Calif., and BearingPoint of McLean, Va., have designed a solution that will help state motor vehicle departments comply with the mandates of the Real ID Act of 2005, the companies said.

The Real ID Act calls for uniform criteria for content and issuance of state identification cards, including driver's licenses. It also requires that states store and share records in secure databases. Real ID requirements must be satisfied by May 2008.

FileNet, a content and business process management company, and BearingPoint, a consulting and systems integration business, will offer solutions that can be scaled to meet each state's requirements from different starting points, the companies said.

The solution will let motor vehicle departments automate their document validation processes and will aid in information gathering and authentication. The solution also will help with record storage, and will lessen the need to keep paper documents by validating and storing all documents electronically.

BearingPoint has about 17,500 employees and ranks No. 23 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.

FileNet has about 1,700 employees and had fiscal 2005 revenue of $421.8 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
