BearingPoint wins Jordan fiscal systems work

The Jordanian government has tapped BearingPoint Inc. to help improve tax administration and budget management through a contract awarded by the U.S. Agency for International Development.

Under the three-year, $14 million contract, BearingPoint of McLean, Va., will use IT to build capacity and enhance the capability of Jordan's tax and budget systems.

BearingPoint will establish modern administrative functions and strengthen analytical capabilities within the tax system. The company also will design and implement a unified government accounting system.

The scope of work also calls for BearingPoint to implement a new budget process and provide training to Jordanian staff.

The company has USAID work in Egypt where it is helping the government implement a broad program of economic, financial and private sector reform. BearingPoint also has a USAID contract in Afghanistan, where it is helping the Afghan government implement policy and institutional reform measures for economic development.

BearingPoint, which has about 17,500 employees, ranks No. 23 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list, which measures federal contracting revenue.
