Analex wins Indian Health Service security and ops deals

Analex Corp. won two contracts totaling $15.3 million to supply network operations and information security support to the Indian Health Service. Both one-year contracts include four option years.

Under a $10.7 million contract, the Fairfax, Va., company will staff a network operations center that will monitor information flow and security matters for 600 hospitals, clinics and facilities within the Indian Health System.

Under a $4.6 million contract, the company will work with the agency to ensure protection of its information systems. The project also entails an array of network security services, ranging from incident handling and penetration testing to vulnerability scanning and protection. A penetration test is a method of evaluating the security of a system by simulating an attack.

The Indian Health System, which delivers health care services to about 1.5 million Native Americans and Alaska Natives, is part of the Health and Human Services Department.

Analex, which specializes in intelligence, systems engineering and security services, has about 1,100 employees and had annual revenue of $141.2 million in fiscal 2005, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
