CSC wins pair of Australian mainframe deals

Computer Sciences Corp. received two contract extensions worth a total of $82 million for mainframe computer services from Australia's Federal Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs and the Australian Electoral Commission.

For the Federal Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs, CSC will continue to provide mainframe and mid-range computer services for the agency's border critical infrastructure program. The extension is for two years with an option for an additional two years.

For the Australian Electoral Commission, CSC will continue furnishing mainframe services. The extension is for one year and has one option year.

CSC's original contracts with the two departments were part of the Australian Federal Government's Cluster 3 outsourcing contract awarded in 1998.

In a separate announcement, CSC said it had signed 80 previously unannounced contracts worth about $595 million during its first fiscal quarter for 2007, ended June 30.

The contracts cover periods from one month to 10 years. Civil agencies accounted for 36 awards totaling about $246 million, and defense agencies accounted for 44 awards worth about $349 million. The significant areas of award activities were the Army and Navy, the Justice Department, health care, transportation and intelligence agencies.

CSC has about 79,000 employees and had annual revenue of nearly $14.6 billion for the fiscal year that ended March 31, 2006. The company ranks No. 5 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of federal IT prime contractors.
