Coy to lead L-3's homeland security group

L-3 Communications Corp. of New York City today named Craig P. Coy as president of its new Homeland Security Group overseeing solutions for port, border and airport security and related areas.

Coy was most recently chief executive officer of the Massachusetts Port Authority, where he was in charge of Boston Logan International Airport, the Port of Boston, the Maurice J. Tobin Bridge and Hanscom Field.

A former Coast Guard officer for 20 years and former deputy director for counterterrorism at the National Security Council, Coy also held the positions of chief executive of HR Logic Inc., a human resources outsourcing firm, and vice president of Lear Siegler Services aerospace services firm. He graduated from the Coast Guard Academy and the Harvard Business School.

Coy will report to Frank C. Lanza, chairman of L-3 Communications.

The new homeland security group encompasses several product areas, including intrusion detection, port, border and airport security, secure communications; feasibility studies and requirements training, L-3 said.

L-3 ranks No. 7 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of federal IT prime contractors.
