OSI inks two Defense Department research deals

The U.S. subsidiary of Offshore Systems International Ltd. won contracts from two Defense Department agencies to provide prototype display solutions for improving battlespace communications. The total value of the contracts is more than $1 million.

Under a contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, OSI will continue developing a prototype system called C2insight that adapts problem solving in warfare situations.

The system uses data from DARPA's command and control system and a program to enhance communications to improve situational awareness, collaborative decision-making and training for future users of Command Post of the Future.

The Command Post of the Future system, which is a set of tools designed to improve communications between a division and its brigades, has been deployed and tested in Iraq.

Under a contract from the Air Force Research Laboratory, the company will conduct research and develop systems that enhance battlespace understanding. This initiative would create decision-support components that improve collaboration and interoperability on many different levels.

OSI of Vancouver, British Columbia, offers geospatial intelligence and electronic chart systems for navigation and situational awareness in the NATO and allied naval markets. The company posted annual revenue of $12 million for fiscal 2005.
